The Plough Sunday Service was held on 5th January at St John The Baptist Church, Boylestone, Derbyshire. According to our tradition, the service is held in the parish of the last match hosts (the hosts of the 2024 match day being the Harris Family Middleton Park Farm, Alkmonton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire).
The service was led by the Rev’d Alan Griggs (Agricultural Chaplain) and the Serman read by the Rev’d Pete Evens (Agricultural Chaplain). The service also had a choral performance by the Boylestone Singers.
Despite the the snow and ice a congregation of around 60 attended. Raising a collection of £391.00 divided between St John the Baptist church and Derbyshire Rural Chaplaincy.
