Dinner Dance

The Brailsford & District Ploughing & Hedgecutting Society held its Annual Black Tie Dinner Dance on 23 January, bringing together members, farmers, and supporters from across the industry to celebrate a year of agricultural excellence.

The event was held in the excellent surroundings of the Burton Albion Pirelli Suite, an evening renowned for its traditional roast beef carved at the table — the centrepiece of a truly fantastic meal.

This year saw the presentation of trophies for the Society’s silage competitions, with first places awarded as follows:

  • Clamp Silage – Adam Sills
  • Round Bale Silage – Will White
  • Clamp Maize Silage – Michael Oulton

A further highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 50-Year Long Service Award to John Stafford OBE, in recognition of his outstanding service to the Society and his long-standing contribution to the wider agricultural community.

Chairman Bill Slater once again expressed his appreciation for the success of the evening, stating:

“Evenings like this never cease to amaze me with the support and generosity from everyone who attends — an evening of good food and good conversation between like-minded people.”

During the evening, tributes were also paid to members and supporters the Society has sadly lost over the past year, reflecting the strong sense of community at the heart of the organisation.

The annual raffle once again did not disappoint, with a superb array of prizes on offer, raising valuable funds and further demonstrating the Society’s ongoing commitment to supporting the agricultural community.
